2023 brings some exciting updates to the never ending challenge of lowering your bills.

In this episode we are going to take a deep dive into minimizing the electricity, water and trash bill’s.

HOW TO MINIMIZE YOUR ELECTRIC BILL

We all know that the most important factor involves how much power we use. The less we use, the less it costs.

Those who own energy star products, [*induction cookers / electric tankless or heat pump water heaters / LED lights / heat pump HVAC / new windows / rock wool or hemp insulation] are going to use much less power.

The government knows how critical the energy star products are so in August of 2022 the Department of Energy made up to $14,000 per household PER YEAR, available as cash back refunds after purchasing these items .

UNFORTUNATELY FOR TEXAS, the state DOE has held this program off the agenda for the past 24 months BECAUSE NOT enough people are demanding their $14,000!!! And of course, the influence from other energy sectors is always going to slow down electricity advancements to protect their profits.

People are constantly complaining about their higher bills but what have they done to keep the use down? The government is paying for everyone to upgrade to more efficient, less demanding homes so what are you waiting for?

In addition to the home upgrades, those who unplug, turn off, use smart devices, lower settings and so on, also benefit from lower bills.

HOW TO MINIMIZE YOUR TRASH & WATER BILL

A lot of people choose not to pay for trash service. They compost food scraps, don’t buy packaged products, recycle/repurpose and burn what’s left. Some communities illegally force customers to pay for an optional private (non utility) trash service by merging it with the city utility water bill. I can’t believe they have avoided a joint action lawsuit by their residents this long.

Many people also avoid a water bill completely by using their own water well or a tank and rain collection system connected to a septic system. There are also affordable water dehumidifier units now that pull water vapor out of the air and purify it so you don’t have to rely on city plumbing or a well.
